Job summary

The Summit Bechtel Reserve in Glen Jean, WV seeks a manager to oversee Eagle Flight, Gateway, and Legacy zips. You will train staff, ensure safe operations, and deliver quality experiences.

You will monitor gear, evaluate performance, and maintain inventories while modeling Scout values and staying compliant with policy. Ideal candidates bring zip line experience, team leadership, and a customer‑service mindset.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 21+.
• Required: BSA C.O.P.E. Direction National Camp School Card (training provided).
• 1+ yr. leading teams; Summit employment preferred.
• Documented zip line work experience.
• Willing to become a registered Scouting America member (background screening).
• Comfortable using Microsoft Teams for daily work-related communication.

Responsibilities

Position Overview

Responsible for overseeing the operation and management of Eagle Flight, Gateway, and Legacy zips, and zip staff. This manager will provide training, customer service and quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Train and manage staff to have the knowledge to carry out a safe, impactful, and fun program
• Monitor equipment conditions and report deficiencies to remove unsafe equipment and modify operations
• Provide periodic performance evaluations of staff and partake in any disciplinary actions
• Maintain Inventory control for program operations, equipment, and facilities
• Effectively maintain a training and practitioner experience portfolio
• Model the Scout Oath and Law in daily interactions
• Maintain a clean, organized, inspected, neat, and safe work area
• Perform additional duties assigned by SBR leadership
• Abide by policies and procedures outlined in the SBR staff handbook

Qualifications

Physical & Practical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, and hike up to 8 hours daily and ability to lift/move up to 70 pounds
• Complete the Annual Health and Medical Record, including height/weight guidelines
• Housing: 10'x12' platform tent in Staff Camp | Uniform: Summit Staff Uniform | Work Hours: 45-55
