Job summary

The Garner Lab at The University of Texas at Austin seeks a reliable Zebrafish Research & Aquatics Specialist to support daily zebrafish husbandry, colony management, and aquatics-system maintenance. This on-site role requires strong organizational skills and the ability to work with a team to support zebrafish-based research.

Responsibilities include routine tank care, records management, and adherence to safety and animal-care procedures.

Qualifications

• Zebrafish husbandry and aquatics facility operations
• Colony management and breeding records
• Facility organization, inventory, compliance, and supplies
• Ability to work weekend/holiday animal care as needed

Responsibilities

• Zebrafish husbandry and aquatics facility operations: maintain health, water quality, tank sanitation, and monitor equipment; weekend/holiday duties may be required.
• Zebrafish colony management and research support: maintain lines, crosses, embryos, and records; assist with genotyping and organization of animals.
• Facility organization, inventory, compliance, and supplies: keep facility stocked, maintain records, develop SOPs, and follow IACUC and safety protocols.
