Job summary

Legends Global at Mohegan Arena @ Casey Plaza seeks a Zamboni Operator to prep and operate ice resurfacing equipment during hockey practices and games, ensuring ice quality and safety.

The role requires mechanical aptitude and experience with ice equipment; training may be provided. Flexible, part-time hours include days, nights, weekends, and holidays, with safety training and background checks required.

Qualifications

• Mechanical aptitude preferred.
• Zamboni or ice resurfacing experience preferred; training may be provided.
• Must read, write, and communicate effectively.
• Able to work hours dictated by events, including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Reliable transportation required.
• Must pass HireRight background check and safety training.

Responsibilities

• Operate the Zamboni during games and practices and maintain ice to league standards.
• Use an Edger and change Zamboni blades as needed.
• Perform maintenance and basic repairs on ice equipment.
• Complete all logs and reports for Zamboni and ice maintenance.
• Conduct ice depth checks and complete game-day checklists.
• Inspect dasherboards and related components before ice resurfacing; perform other duties as assigned.

POSITION DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Zamboni Operator

COMPANY: Legends Global
DEPARTMENT: Operations
FACILITY: Mohegan Arena @ Casey Plaza
REPORTS TO: Operations Manager
FLSA: Part-Time Hourly/Non-Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for the preparation and operation of the ice resurfacing equipment during hockey practice and games, as well as ice maintenance functions.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operates the Zamboni during hockey games and practices, maintaining the ice to AHL standards
• Ability to use an Edger and change the Zamboni blades
• Performs maintenance, repairs, and service on ice equipment (Zamboni and Edger)
• Completes all required log reports for the Zamboni and also for ice maintenance
• Performs ice depth checks as needed
• Completes a game day checklist
• Checks dasherboards, glazing, and related components prior to ice resurfacing functions
• Performs other tasks as assigned

WORK CONTACTS:

Operations Staff; event day contact with hockey team personnel

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Mechanical aptitude preferred
• Previous facility operations/Zamboni experience preferred but may be willing to train the right candidate
• Previous facility operations experience a plus
• Must possess the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively
• Must possess the ability to work hours as dictated by events
• Must possess the ability to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays, work as part of a team, and have reliable transportation
• Must practice safe work habits, follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations, and complete any company-wide safety training and any additional job specific training
• Must pass a HireRight Background Check in accordance with company policy
