Job summary

Cognizant in the Cloud, Infrastructure, and Security Services Practice (CIS) is seeking a z/OS Administrator for a remote role in the United States. You will manage z/OS systems, apply patches, and oversee Parallel Sysplex operations while coordinating with ISV products and RMF tooling.

This role requires deep mainframe expertise and hands-on upgrades. Responsibilities include incident management, MF configuration, performance monitoring, and reporting.

Qualifications

• Expert in z/OS and parallel sysplex architectures.
• Experience with mainframe LPAR builds and z/OS upgrades.
• Strong patch management and ISV product maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Maintain z/OS systems and monitor performance and health.
• Manage incident response and problem resolution for z/OS issues.
• Perform z/OSMF configuration and lifecycle tasks.
• Apply patches, fixes, and carry out version upgrades.
• Configure and maintain SMPE environments and RMF-critical tooling.
• Oversee ISV product installation and integration on z/OS.
• Conduct capacity planning and parameters/parmlib maintenance.
• Support Parallel Sysplex operations and MF configurations.
• Generate z/OS performance reports and optimization recommendations.

Role Title: z/OS Administrator

Location: Remote

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Extremely familiar with IBM z/OS operating system(up to z/OS 3.1 and above)
• Knowledge on Parallel Sysplex concepts
• Experience mainframe LPAR builds
• Strong experience in zOS version upgrades
• Installation of patches and fixes
• Installation and maintenance of ISV products
• System parameters/parmlib maintenance
• Managing incidents on z/OS related issues
• zOS MF configuration and setup
• z/OS performance monitoring and reporting

Mandatory Skills:

• Technical Skills – z/OS, Parallel Sysplex, SMPE, RMF, SMF, WLM, Understanding of System z architecture, zOSMF

Compensation
