Job summary

CHR's OBA community-based group home in Coventry, CT seeks a Youth Worker for a part-time role (16 hours/week). You’ll support 6 adolescent boys with trauma histories, help with activities of daily living, and coordinate care with families and providers.

  • Two years’ experience working with a relevant population preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record required.
  • High School diploma or better; preferred higher education.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains physical environment and program standards set by funders, accreditors, and agency policies.
  • Monitor self-administration of client medications per agency policy.
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers and clients using appropriate tools.
  • Teach and assist residents in daily living activities.
  • Assist/Manage administrative functions as directed by supervisor.
  • Prepare and facilitate educational and skill-building groups and one-to-one interventions.
  • Coordinate care with providers and families as needed.
  • Address residents' medical and psychiatric needs.
  • Maintain documentation per agency standards.
  • Participate in staff meetings, supervision, trainings, and other meetings.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Youth Worker
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Part-time, 16 hours/wk
SCHEDULED HOURS: Sunday 8am-4am, Monday 7am-3am

OBA community-based group home which provides 24-hour staffing and a built in therapeutic component for 6 boys, aged 13 to 18, who have experienced trauma and loss and who have serious emotional and behavioral problems. Most of the boys referred to Grant House have been in hospitals or other residential treatment facilities before coming to CHR. The home allows the boys to live in a more normal, home-like setting within the community while providing the structure, services and treatment they need to be safe, to heal and to grow.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Maintains physical environment and program standards set by funders, accreditors, and agency policies.
  • Monitor self-administration of client medications in accordance with the agency medication policies and procedure as program may require.
  • Effectively utilizes appropriate communication methods/tools to effectively collaborate with co-workers and clients.
  • Teaches and assists all residents in areas of developmentally appropriate activities of daily living.
  • Assists/Manages administrative functions and tasks at the direction of the supervisor.
  • Prepares and facilitates educational and skill building groups and one to one intervention as directed by the treatment plan.
  • Collaborates and coordinate care with providers and families as needed.
  • Assists residents in addressing medical and psychiatric needs.
  • Maintains documentation in compliance with agency and program standards.
  • Participates in staff meetings, supervision, trainings, and other meetings as assigned.
  • Additional duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: Two years’ experience working with a relevant population preferred.

Licensure/Certification/Registration

Valid driver’s license required with good driving record.

$20.30/hour min- $26.1996/hour max

*Actual rates within this range are determined at the time of offer and are based on relevant experience, as well as adherence to our internal equity policy. (Please note, for part-time positions this range would be pro-rated based on hours worked)
