Job summary

The Salvation Army in Nebraska is seeking a part-time Youth Program Assistant to support youth development activities. Hours include Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 2:30 P.M.–6:30 P.M., Wednesday 1:30 P.M.–6:30 P.M., with a pay rate of $15.00 per hour.

Responsibilities include facilitating youth programs, assisting with registration and orientation, maintaining safety, and reporting on program activity. A high school diploma or GED is required, and previous youth work is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous work in Children and Youth preferred.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.

  • Assists with outreach to sustain program membership.
  • Maintains facility and equipment; keeps storage orderly.
  • Reports repairs and janitorial needs as required.
  • May participate in special programs and events.
  • Driving is an essential function.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Summary/Primary Purpose: Plans, implements, supervises youth members and evaluates activities provided within a specific program area. Builds and maintains a professional relationship with all youth and their families to help advance the mission of The Salvation Army.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Supervisory Responsibilities: Volunteers

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED required. Previous work in related field with Children and Youth preferred.

Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.

  • Ability to be flexible and able to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft software to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and As well as the ability to access payroll, timekeeping and personal data via a web-based system.
  • Administrative skills to include utilization of standard office equipment, data entry, 10- key,
  • Good attention to details and
  • Good communication skills both written and spoken, and ability to maintain effective working
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential

Other Qualifications:

  • Must pass all applicable background checks. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business.
  • Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army.
  • A commitment to actively participate in a Professional Development Plan.
