Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware in Newark, DE is seeking a part-time van driver to transport club members to and from school and assist with after-school activities.

You will perform daily pre-trip inspections, maintain logs, adhere to safety regulations, and support dismissal procedures, while keeping children safe and engaged.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to operate a 10-passenger van; CDL preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must possess a valid driver’s License for at least 3 years and no more than 5 points on driving record; CDL preferred.
• Must be able to pass FBI clearance, State of Delaware Criminal History Background Check, National and State Sexual Abuse Registry check, and National and State Child Abuse Registry Check per DelaCare regulations.
• Ability to operate a 10 passenger van
• An understanding of all current state and local regulations
• Flexibility as to the hours and schedule of work
• Experience transporting children preferred.
• Experience working in a licensed childcare facility preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operates van on schedule and within designated route.
• Maintain vehicle tracking logs on daily basis.
• Operate van in a safe manner, abiding by all regulations.
• Promptly reports emergencies, accidents, injuries, missing articles, damage, and safety hazards to management.
• Conducts pre-trip vehicle inspections and daily checklists.
• Maintain van logs and related paperwork.
