Job summary

YMCA of Greater Brandywine is seeking a Theater Instructor to plan, organize, and deliver music and theater classes for participants aged 1–18, teaching acting, dance, music, and performance skills while building confidence and creativity.

The ideal candidate has extensive performing arts experience, strong mentoring ability, and a track record of engaging youth; you will maintain records, ensure safety, and promote other YMCA programs.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years advanced experience in a specialized skill.
• Minimum of 4 years teaching a specialized skill.
• Training and qualifications in the specialized instruction area.
• Demonstrate advance knowledge of the specialized skill.
• Ability to effectively use technology for programmatic needs.
• Obtain and maintain all new hires certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes and leads activities, routines and/or games for all participants.
• Leads with enthusiasm and positive motivation in program.
• Organizes and maintains program records including attendance rosters.
• Manages all equipment.
• Maintains a clean and risk-free environment.
• Communicates effectively with program participants and parents.
• Ensures all children are picked up by a parent.
• Promotes other YMCA programs by handing out brochures or referrals.
• Ensures compliance with YMCA policies and procedures.
