Job summary

Theuniversityunion is seeking a part-time Swim Instructor at our Sanford facility to oversee youth swim lessons under the Aquatics Director. This role emphasizes safety and education in line with YMCA guidelines.

You will build strong connections with students and parents, prepare lesson plans, maintain attendance and progress records, and support equipment management while ensuring a positive, compliant learning environment.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Ability to demonstrate swim instructor skills per YMCA standards.
• Must maintain required certifications (CPR, First Aid, Oxygen, AED) or equivalents.
• Desire and ability to work with children of all ages.
• Ability to relate to diverse groups in the community.
• Multilingual is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Instructs swimming lessons per YMCA guidelines with prepared lesson plans.
• Builds relationships with students and parents; connects them with the YMCA.
• Conveys information on aquatics programs and schedules; refers to other programs as appropriate.
• Maintains attendance and progress records; completes reports as needed.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings; follows YMCA safety procedures.
