Job summary

YMCA in Raleigh, NC is seeking a part-time Swim Instructor to ensure youth safety and education in swim lessons. Under the Aquatics Director, you will model high standards and values while managing lesson essentials within the YMCA's mission.

Typical schedule includes 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Saturdays and 2 – 5 p.m. on Sundays, with required certifications in CPR, First Aid, AED, and YMCA Swim Instructor. Prior experience with children is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Must demonstrate swim instructor skills per YMCA standards.
• Maintain certifications including CPR, First Aid, Oxygen, AED, and YMCA Swim Instructor or equivalent.
• Desire and ability to work with children of all ages.
• Ability to relate to diverse groups in the community.
• Multilingual is desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

• Instruct swimming lessons per YMCA guidelines with prepared lesson plans.
• Build authentic relationships with students and parents and connect them with the YMCA.
• Communicate information on aquatics programs and refer to other programs when appropriate.
• Maintain attendance and progress records; complete reports as needed.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings; follow all safety procedures and report incidents.
• Set up and put away equipment; report damaged items.
• Train and supervise class aides as assigned.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
