Job summary

YMCA of NorthWest North Carolina seeks an energetic Swim Coach for the TYDE Swim Team. You will oversee daily practices, provide feedback to improve strokes, and foster a culture of sportsmanship and growth among young swimmers.

You will coordinate with aquatic leadership, attend meets, ensure safety, and help families with progress updates. USA Swimming certification and background checks are required or obtainable upon hire; CPR/First Aid/AED training is expected.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of competitive swimming strokes, training techniques, meet rules, and practice-set design across age groups.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and verbal communication skills to engage parents and athletes.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily workouts using established team practice sets and provide constructive feedback on stroke mechanics and endurance.
• Cultivate a positive, team-oriented culture emphasizing hard work, perseverance, dedication and sportsmanship.
• Maintain open communication with parents, swimmers, Head Age Group Coach, and Aquatic Directors regarding plans and progress.
• Attend swim meets, coaches' meetings and team events to support performance and ensure smooth competition.
• Enforce pool safety standards, YMCA policies, and child abuse prevention protocols across all environments.
