Job summary

YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a part-time Youth Sports Staff at Haselwood Family YMCA in Silverdale, WA. Wage starts at $17.13 per hour with most new hires set at the midpoint of the posted range; up to 25 hours weekly.

You will instruct children in sports and games, aligning with YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Responsibilities include leading age-appropriate activities, promoting sportsmanship, creating lesson plans, and supervising equipment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 15 years of age or older.
• Six months or more of related experience (preferred).
• The ability to instruct participants in techniques.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications (preferred).
• Knowledge and skills in programming, activities, and sports.
• Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).
• Committed to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
• Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, and other online and in-person training as required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and assist participants in skill development, game play, and activities appropriate for each age group.
• Encourage sportsmanship and teachable moments to implement our core values.
• Assist in creating age-appropriate lesson plans to ensure fun, high-energy classes.
• Monitor the facility, organize activities and instruct youth on proper use of equipment.

Wage:$17.13 to $17.13 per hour(Compensation is determined based on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications, with most new hires starting between the minimum and midpoint of the posted wage range)

Hours: Part-Time, Up to 25 hours per week
