Job summary

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties in Sumner, WA is seeking a Youth Sports Staff member to lead and assist participants in age-appropriate activities, focusing on safety and YMCA core values. This part-time role requires engagement with children and parents, and a commitment to inclusive programs.

Responsibilities include planning fun, high-energy lessons, supervising equipment, and promoting sportsmanship while upholding the organization’s dedication to diversity and community well-being.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 15 or older.
• Six months or more related experience preferred.
• Ability to instruct participants in techniques.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications preferred.
• Knowledge of programming, activities, and sports.
• Pass background and reference checks as per WA Fair Chance Act.
• Commitment to diversity and inclusive environment.
• Complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on day one and other trainings as required.

• Encourage sportsmanship and model core YMCA values.
• Assist in creating age-appropriate lesson plans to ensure fun, high-energy classes.
• Monitor the facility, organize activities and instruct youth on proper equipment use.

Job description

Wage:$17.13 to $17.13 per hour, depending on qualifications

Hours:Part-Time, Up to 25 hours per week

Location:Gordon Family YMCA, Sumner, WA

As a Youth Sports Staff, you will be responsible for instructing class participants in various sports, games, and activities while providing quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 15 years of age or older.
• Six months or more of related experience (preferred).
• The ability to instruct participants in techniques.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications (preferred).
• Knowledge and skills in programming, activities, and sports.
• Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).
• Committed to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
• Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, and other online and in-person training as required.
