Job summary

The Lake Superior YMCA in Downtown Duluth is seeking a part-time Referee to support youth and adult sports programs. You will help maintain a safe, inclusive environment and uphold YMCA values during games and practices.

As a Referee, you will teach and model Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility; supervise activity, promote sportsmanship, and complete incident reports as needed. Must be at least 15 and CPR/First Aid certified within 60 days.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 15 years old and enrolled in high school.
• Knowledge of the sport and basic understanding of its rules.
• Ability to demonstrate leadership and enthusiasm on the court or field.
• Friendly, outgoing and aligned with the YMCA's Mission Statement.
• Experience with children and adults in sports; officiating is a plus.
• CPR/AED/First Aid certification within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Model, teach, and incorporate the YMCA’s core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
• Interact with participants in a positive manner and build relationships with youth, adults, and staff.
• Maintain a friendly atmosphere and encourage good sportsmanship while supervising activities.
• Provide customer service to fulfill participants, coaches, parents, and volunteers needs.
• Ensure safety of participants and complete accident/incident reports promptly when needed.
