Job summary

Greenville Area Recreation & Community Center seeks a Recreation Programmer to help plan, market, and supervise programs, leagues, camps, classes, and events in the Greenville area. You will assist the director with administrative tasks and coordinate activities with staff and volunteers.

The role requires strong communication, team collaboration, and the ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining records, budgets, and promotional efforts.

Qualifications

• 1+ year program experience in recreation/youth sports.
• Ability to work collaboratively with fellow employees in a team-based environment.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to effectively carry out tasks independently.
• Attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, MS Outlook, Canva; RecPro preferred.
• Reliable, energetic, and good customer service skills.
• Preferred candidate will have a degree in Recreation or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the development of a comprehensive recreational program for GARCC including sports, activities, and special events.
• Oversee organization, operations and activities of youth sports leagues; create new leagues and programs.
• Directly hire, train, supervise and evaluate seasonal, part-time, and contracted youth staff; assist with supervision of support staff.
• Improve staff performance, correct deficiencies, and implement discipline procedures.
• Assist with advertising, marketing, and fundraising.
