Job summary

Hayward Area Recreation and Park District is seeking two Recreation Specialist II to support our Arts & Cultural Events Team. This part-time, hourly role offers up to 18 hours per week and may involve multiple district locations.

Under direction, you will plan and conduct classes, oversee staff and volunteers, and help develop programs while maintaining records of participation and fees. Start date ASAP; applications reviewed as received.

Qualifications

• Plan, organize and implement recreational programs and activities in the area of assignment.
• Serve as a lead worker over staff and volunteers providing recreational program services.
• Instruct adults, children and families in a highly specialized program area.
• Monitor program and participant compliance with District regulations and policies.
• Maintain discipline and safety among participants; communicate with parents/participants.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes and conducts classes in specialty fields for groups of various ages and interests; develops course content and designs course materials
• Serves as a subject matter expert and trains subordinates within a specialty field
• Stimulates interest and appreciation for the specialty field
• Maintains records of participation and collects participant fees
• Implements and monitors District procedures regarding participant safety
• Performs administrative duties such as meetings, reports and monitoring expenditures
• Performs other duties as assigned
