Job summary

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego is seeking a Sports Coordinator to manage and grow youth sports leagues across BGCGSD sites. You will lead coaches, volunteers, and staff, coordinate with school locations, and ensure safety, scheduling, and budget compliance.

Responsibilities include planning games, practices, and clinics, recruiting referees, maintaining equipment, and promoting positive youth development through athletic programs in a safe environment.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age with a High School diploma or GED; BA in recreation or related discipline preferred.
• A minimum of 48 units of college curriculum or completion of the CAPE/HQIA required.
• Must have a minimum of two years related work experience with sports league planning and execution, organizing and/or monitoring sports related activities, working with volunteers, referees, and program staff.
• Youth coaching experience required; ability to communicate team concepts and sport techniques to individuals/groups.

Responsibilities

• Ensures programs and activities adhere to current health and safety protocols.
• Assist in sports leagues for the organization across South and North County.
• Plan, implement, supervise, and coordinate the Youth Sports League; promote interest and participation through Clubs and schools, public relations, and informational programs.
• Supervise the sports league activities whether in a gym or outside on a field.
• Recruit and select referees and volunteer coaches; ensure background clearance is complete.
• Maintain accurate and detailed financial records and oversee expenditures.
