Job summary

The YMCA of Honolulu is seeking an Engagement Specialist to design and lead teen-focused after-school sports programs for grades 6–12. You will collaborate with YMCA leaders, school staff, and community partners to create engaging activities that reflect teen interests and promote youth voice and inclusion.

You will foster a safe, welcoming environment and mentor youth while managing attendance and equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CPR, AED, and First Aid certification preferred or training provided on hire.
• Experience engaging middle/high school youth in recreation or related programs.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to create inclusive, youth-centered activities.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead daily intramural sports and recreation activities for teens.
• Introduce youth to sports with emphasis on skill development and safety.
• Organize competitions, leagues, and community partnerships.
• Promote teamwork, leadership, and inclusivity in all activities.
• Ensure a safe environment and mentor youth with feedback and guidance.
• Maintain attendance, equipment, and records; assist with scheduling and orders.
