Job summary

YMCA of Honolulu is seeking a Teen Leader to serve as a positive role model and mentor for teens after school on Oahu. The role centers on building relationships, creating a welcoming space, and helping youth feel seen and supported.

You will supervise participants, help plan and lead activities—physical education, clubs, college and career exploration, and academic support—while promoting safety and inclusion. Reports to the Teen Coordinator and participates in staff meetings and training.

Qualifications

• Experience engaging middle and high school youth in recreation, leadership development, service learning, civic engagement, and college/career readiness.
• Strong group/classroom management and understanding of teen development.
• Demonstrates mature judgment and ability to lead by example.
• Collaborative and flexible mindset valuing youth voice.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills; well-organized and able to multitask.

Responsibilities

• Lead after-school activities, including physical education, community time, college and career exploration, and academic support, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment.
• Assists Site Coordinators and Youth Directors in program operation and supervision while following policies and SOPs.
• Develop and implement student-centered clubs and programs promoting cultural understanding and leadership.
• Attend staff meetings and training; be open to feedback and training.
• Maintain facilities, equipment, and supplies in good condition and organized.
