Job summary

YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties at the Mel Korum Family YMCA in Puyallup, WA, is seeking a Youth Sports Staff to teach sports and activities to children while upholding YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

The role is part-time (up to 25 hours per week) with a starting wage of $17.13 per hour and opportunities for growth through training and certifications. Join a team dedicated to safe, inclusive programs for youth and families.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 15 years of age or older.
• Six months or more of related experience.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications (preferred).
• Pass Background and Reference checks (WA State Fair Chance Act).
• Commitment to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive environment.
• Complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day.

Responsibilities

• Lead and assist participants in skill development, game play, and activities appropriate for each age group.
• Encourage sportsmanship and teachable moments to implement our core values.
• Assist in creating age-appropriate lesson plans to ensure fun, high-energy classes.
• Monitor the facility, organize activities and instruct youth on proper use of equipment.
