Job summary

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Youth Sports Lead at the Gordon Family YMCA in Sumner, WA. This part-time role supports youth sports programming under the Program Director, focusing on safe, engaging activities that reflect YMCA values.

You will plan lessons, lead activities, and help recruit volunteers while upholding diversity, safety, and inclusion. Pass background checks and complete required training on day one.

Qualifications

• You are committed to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
• You are a high school graduate or equivalent.
• You have one year or more of related experience.
• You are ableto officiate games according to the rules of the sport(s).
• You have knowledge and skills in various sports activities and related equipment, and the ability to instruct participants in techniques.
• You have a general understanding of specific sport(s) and the rules or display a willingness to learn.
• You have a positive attitude and are able to demonstrate a friendly, courteous and professional manner while working with members, parents and staff.
• Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).
• Committed to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
• Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, and other online and in-person training as required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, lead and participate in youth sports program activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings.
• You will prepare lessons and practice plans.
• You will assist and supportunder the direction of the Program Director
• Assist in recruiting and leading volunteers to assist with programming support
