Job summary

Channel Islands YMCA is seeking a part-time Sports Instructor to referee, coach, and supervise diverse sports programs on-site. You will enforce organizational policies, respond to emergencies, and complete incident reporting while delivering inclusive instruction based on best practices.

Responsibilities include setting up and putting away equipment, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining a welcoming environment for all members and guests.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old
• High School Diploma or equivalent; valid work permit required if a minor
• Ability to obtain a criminal record clearance, if over 18 years old
• Complete required certifications within 60 days of hire
• Complete all required Branch and Position specific trainings as required within two weeks of hire

• Enforce and follow all Channel Islands YMCA policy and procedures
• Respond to emergency situations in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures and complete incident reporting
• Provide instruction that is inclusive and based on best practices
• Set up and put away equipment before and after sports programs
• Provide exceptional customer service and foster connections with members
• Create an environment that is welcoming, nurturing, and inclusive for all members and guests
• Ensure building, grounds, and equipment are in working order and report concerns
