Job summary

Soccer Stars and Amazing Athletes seeks a full-time Youth Sports Development Specialist to lead coach development, mentor staff, and elevate program quality across Long Island and Eastern Queens.

You will observe coaching, deliver trainings, support hiring, and help ensure every class provides an exceptional experience for thousands of children each year. This role requires travel, evenings, and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience coaching, teaching, mentoring, or leading youth programs.
• Soccer experience is preferred but not required.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Comfortable providing constructive feedback and coaching others.
• Highly organized with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable working independently while collaborating with a larger team.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Calendar, Gmail).
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Willingness to travel regularly throughout Long Island and Eastern Queens.
• Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead onboarding and training sessions for new and existing coaches.
• Observe coaches in the field and provide feedback through evaluations and coaching.
• Mentor coaches throughout their development and prepare them for leadership roles.
• Identify high-performing coaches for increased responsibilities.
• Partner with leadership to improve coaching standards across the organization.
• Coach classes regularly while modeling best practices and mentoring peers.
• Fill coaching vacancies to ensure consistent program delivery.
• Visit classes, camps, and clinics to ensure high-quality experiences.
• Ensure coaches deliver age-appropriate instruction with enthusiasm and professionalism.
• Assist with coach scheduling, recruiting, onboarding, and record-keeping.
• Maintain equipment inventory and logistics for all program locations.
