Job summary

YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit is seeking a YPPI Coordinator to implement the Y Positive Play Initiative across the service area. You will promote site development, program awareness, youth engagement, and access to the program for children.

Responsibilities include safety, activity delivery, supplies management, surveys, and coordinating with teams. CPR/First Aid certification within 30 days is required, with opportunities for growth and flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; 18+ years of age.
• Associate's degree or college credits preferred (2+ years).
• 2 years of recreation experience preferred, not required.
• CPR & First Aid, Child Abuse Prevention, etc., completion within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Ensure site safety at all times.
• Encourage youth participation in daily sport-related activities.
• Assist with delivery of supplies, equipment, snacks, and beverages.
• Attend YPPI program team meetings (schedule TBD).
• Complete youth surveys at each site.
• Document incidents and accidents in Origami; notify supervisors of emergencies.
• Maintain YPPI vehicles cleanliness and report issues.
• Respond to customer and volunteer needs promptly and with care.
• Maintain communication with site team, Site Supervisor, and partners.
• Assist with achieving program goals and deliverables.

General Function

The YPPI Coordinator will be responsible for implementing the Y Positive Play Initiative (YPPI) - Y on the Fly mobile components for the YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit service area by promoting site development, program awareness, youth engagement, and ensuring that all children have access to the program.

Education/Experience/Training/Certifications

• At minimum, a high school diploma or equivalent is required (18+ years of age) associate's degree or equivalent college credits preferred (2+ years)
• 2 years of experience working in a recreation setting is preferred, but not required
• Experiences in administration, youth supervision, and program planning are preferred, not required
• Completion of CPR & First Aid, Child Abuse Prevention, etc., within 30 days of hire

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Make sure site safety is in place at all times.
• Encourage youth to participate in daily sport-related activities.
• Assist with the delivery of supplies to designated sites, inclusive of sportsequipment/kits and healthy snacks, and beverages.
• Attend YPPI program team meeting (schedule TBD).
• Ensure completion of all necessary youth surveys at each site.
• Document incidents and accidents in Origami. Communicate all emergencies tosupervisors immediately.
• Help drive and maintain the cleanliness of YPPI vehicles and alert the supervisor ifyou notice any van issues.
• Be responsive to customer and volunteer needs in a timely and caring manner.
• Maintain excellent communication with the YPPI site team and Youth Sports SiteSupervisor, and site partners.
• Assist with reaching program goals and deliverables.

Abilities & Skills

• Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations (depending upon the programs).
