Job description

The Mt. Prospect Park District, incorporated in 1955 and covering more than 454 acres, offers recreational programs, events, parks, and facilities across 11 square miles. It serves a population of over a quarter million residents in Mount Prospect and surrounding communities. The District has earned the 2026 Illinois Parks and Recreation Association Exceptional Workplace Award.

We are hiring a part‑time Youth Soccer Field Supervisor to start in August 2026. The Supervisor will manage soccer fields at Sunrise Park and Majewski Park on Saturdays, Sundays, and occasional Monday evenings throughout the fall, winter, and spring seasons. Duties include opening gates, setting up and cleaning fields, greeting patrons, attending to injuries, and monitoring the park during duty.

Pay is $15.00 per hour. Park District employees receive facility privileges.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise soccer games on scheduled days and times.
  • Be familiar with all District policies and procedures.
  • Report to work on time and arrive 30 minutes before first game in proper attire.
  • Inspect playing areas, ensure they are safe, and set up equipment.
  • Open gates and washrooms upon arrival and close/lock them before departure.
  • Watch games, attend to injuries, and complete incident reports accurately.
  • Clean up fields and store equipment after play.
  • Maintain appropriate patron behavior at the park.
  • Report equipment, facility, or program issues to the RecPlex Supervisor or Superintendent of Recreation.
  • Attend staff meetings, training, and special events as needed.
  • Maintain a neat and organized work area.
  • Perform additional duties assigned by the RecPlex Facility Supervisor, Superintendent of Recreation, Director of Recreation, or Executive Director, including emergency response.
Qualifications
  • At least 16 years old and able to pass a criminal background check.
  • Familiar with the game of soccer.
  • CPR/AED certified or able to obtain certification within one month of employment and maintain it thereafter.
  • Effective communication skills for coordination of work, safety, and emergencies.
  • Strong customer service skills and a positive attitude toward the District and its employees, programs, and patrons.
  • Valid driver’s license or reliable transportation to travel to soccer fields as needed.
  • Good judgment, ability to recognize unsafe conditions, and respond appropriately.
  • Reliability and ability to work independently with limited supervision; consistent attendance is essential.
  • Compliance with District guidelines and policies.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, sit, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and carrying.
  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions (heat, cold, humidity, sun, rain).
Conduct and Professionalism

The Youth Soccer Field Supervisor represents the District’s Athletic Department and must conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times, displaying a positive attitude and refraining from derogatory or abusive language toward participants, spectators, or coworkers.

Schedule and Hours

Work may include evening and weekend hours, with occasional overtime. Total hours worked will be less than 1,000 per year.
