Job summary

Spectrum Youth and Family Services in Burlington, VT is seeking a part-time Youth Coach for the Basic Needs and Supported Housing programs. This role supports Transitional Aged Youth (TAY) ages 16–23 with life skills, basic needs, and community access.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Knowledgeable about issues facing Transitional Aged Youth (TAY) and associated challenges.
• Willing to learn life skills topics like meal prep, budgeting, cleaning, hygiene, and employment skills.
• Ability to build relationships quickly with diverse populations.
• Able to work independently and in a team per NASW ethics.
• Participation in supervision and openness to feedback, with a commitment to diversity.

Responsibilities

• Maintain shelters as a safe, clean, accessible space for TAY aged 16-23.
• Support residents in learning independent life skills and service-plan goals.
• Provide basic needs like hygiene supplies, meals, clothing, and community access.
• Offer supportive engagement, brief/crisis interventions from Spectrum trainings.
• Coordinate resources and referrals with Housing Case Manager and partners.
• Assist in designing and implementing youth activities, field trips, and groups.
• Advocate for youth within Spectrum and the community to drive positive change.
• Other duties: train newer staff, document interactions in the health record system.
