Job summary

Spectrum is hiring a Youth Coach in Burlington, VT, to support Transitional Aged Youth (ages 16–23) in shelters. This part-time, evening with weekends requirement role involves providing basic needs, guiding life skills, and coordinating community referrals.

You will work with a team of professionals in the Basic Needs Program, participate in regular supervision, and help youth move toward stability and independence in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Willingness to learn about Transitional Aged Youth, homelessness, mental health, and related issues.
• Ability to learn life skills topics (meal prep, budgeting, cleaning, personal hygiene, job readiness).

Responsibilities

• Maintain shelters as a safe, clean space for 16-23 year-olds.
• Support residents in learning independent life skills and achieving service plan goals.
• Provide basic needs including hygiene items, meals, clothing, and community.
• Engage youth with supportive interventions and crisis response.
• Coordinate resources and referrals with Housing Case Manager.
• Assist with designing and leading youth activities and groups.
• Advocate for youth within Spectrum and the community.
• Administer resident medication and help train new Youth Coaches and interns.
• Maintain timely records in the electronic health record system.
• Communicate professionally with coworkers and supervisors.
