Job summary

Wisconsin Community Services, Inc. is seeking a Shelter Care Supervisor for the WCS Youth Shelter Care Program at Bahiya House in Milwaukee.

You will lead daily shelter operations, supervise staff, and ensure a safe, trauma-informed environment for youth in our care. Reporting to the Vice President and collaborating with the APD and PD, you will oversee staff, maintain records, and ensure adherence to Milwaukee County and Wisconsin policies.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of experience working with children or adolescents in a 24-hour residential or shelter setting.
• 1 year of supervisory experience (2–3 years preferred).
• High school diploma or GED/HSED required; an associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Must meet agency, funder, and state licensing requirements, including background checks and driving record.

Responsibilities

• Staff leadership, supervision, coaching, and scheduling.
• Ensure youth safety, appropriate staffing ratios, and confidential records.
• Ensure compliance with agency policies and licensing standards.
• Oversee daily shelter operations, logs, and food/services.
• Coordinate youth activities and community-based programming.
• Maintain communication with families, schools, and service providers.
• Review youth files and documentation for accuracy and compliance.
• Respond to incidents and participate in emergency preparedness.
• Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and staff development.
• Provide after-hours support and flexible scheduling as needed.
• Support budgeting needs and annual planning.
