Job summary

Qualifications

• Remain calm and exercise sound judgment in emergencies.
• Capacity to make decisions and act quickly in emergency or dangerous situations.
• Ability to understand, explain, and apply the applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Proficiency to exercise discretion in handling confidential information, prepare general reports, maintain accurate records, and assemble items of information in accordance with established procedures.
• Strong ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse groups of people, establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with others, and adapt to varying work situations.
• Ability to follow and give oral and written instructions in a precise, understandable manner.
• Aptitude to read and interpret documents such as maps, charts, building plans, etc.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the standard methods and ability to collect, identify, and preserve evidence as well as the terminology used in law enforcement work.

Responsibilities

• Inspect fire and other safety equipment to maintain safety of property, staff, youth, clients, and occupants.
• Respond to emergencies by administering first aid, locking down unsecured areas, calling for assistance, and regaining control of situations.
• Record incidents and activities in the operations log or electronic system for traceability and coordination with authorities.
• Conduct curfew monitoring calls to youth as assigned by regional management.
• Take appropriate action to handle violations or emergencies according to procedures.
• Notify staff and call for assistance during emergencies.
• Assist in evacuating youth, clients, residents, or students during drills or emergencies.
• Answer telephone inquiries from internal and external parties to provide information and guidance.
• Transport youth or residents to secure areas as needed to maintain safety.
