Job summary

Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Youth Services, seeks a Juvenile Justice YDS I for the Central Region to supervise and support youth in a locked residential facility. You will monitor conduct, ensure safety, and provide guidance for life skills and re-entry into the community.

This is a full-time, 24/7 role requiring teamwork, crisis awareness, and the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays, with training provided upon hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to interact with youth under stress.
• Capable of rapid decisions in emergencies.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, holidays.
• Must pass pre-employment screenings.

Responsibilities

• Observe youth and respond to disturbances or self-harm in line with policies.
• Collaborate with a team to supervise activities and provide support.
• Serve as a positive role model to aid re-entry into the community.
• Maintain a safe environment through regular security checks and rounds.
