Job summary

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Youth Services seeks a Security Specialist I for the Metro Youth Service Center in Dorchester, MA. The role involves monitoring surveillance, patrolling, and maintaining safety for staff, youth, residents, and clients.

You will respond to emergencies, document incidents, assist in evacuations, and coordinate with other staff to uphold security procedures. Schedule: Third shift 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM with Sundays and Mondays off.

Responsibilities

• Inspect safety equipment and maintain facility safety.
• Respond to emergencies and administer first aid.
• Record incidents in logs and share information with authorities.
• Conduct curfew monitoring calls for youth in community.
• Handle violations per authorized procedures.
• Notify staff and call for assistance during emergencies.
• Assist in evacuations during drills or real emergencies.
• Answer calls and provide information to departments and the public.
• Transport youth to secure areas to ensure safety.
