Job summary

Clackamas Women’s Services in Oregon City seeks a Youth Services Relief Staff member to supervise children and youth accessing services. You will create safe spaces for youth survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, and sexual assault, across infant to teen ages, working alongside a compassionate interdisciplinary team.

The role involves facilitating groups, coordinating with parents, and supporting age-appropriate activities while collaborating with the Youth Services Program Manager.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience working with children & youth.
• Willingness to complete 40-hr confidential advocate training.
• Ability to pass background check.
• Bilingual/bicultural preferred.
• Understanding of anti-oppression issues and culturally competent service delivery is valued.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and care for children and youth, supporting their varying needs.
• Facilitate weekly groups at the Center and the Emergency Shelter (e.g., art-based groups for youth).
• Assist with prepping for adult groups such as DV Support Group.
• Ensure safety within youth spaces and manage supplies and equipment.
• Provide information to parents regarding youth services expectations and guidelines.
• Communicate program needs to Youth Services Manager and participate in team tasks.

Position Purpose

The Youth Services Relief Staff position focuses on providing supervision and care to children and youth accessing services through CWS. The position will be responsible for creating a safe space for youth survivors of domestic violence, dating violence and sexual assault or exploitation and children and youth exposed to domestic and/or sexual violence. The position will provide services to a full age range of children and youth (infant—teenager) and be responsible for working with them simultaneously.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and care for children and youth, by supporting their varying needs including but not limited to: management of behaviors, transitional times and parent access for age-specific needs.
• Facilitate weekly groups at A Safe Place Family Justice Center and CWS’ Emergency Shelter such as A Window Between Worlds, an art-based group for youth impacted by trauma.
• Assist with prepping for corresponding adult groups, such as Make Parenting A Pleasure or DV Support Group.
• Ensure safety within youth spaces including but not limited to: organization of toys and supplies, disposal of broken equipment, and parent access when needed.
• Have working knowledge of age-appropriate toys/activities and be able to create engaging environment for youth to access while in care
• Provide information to parents relating to youth services expectations and guidelines.
• Inform Youth Services Manager of program needs (such as food options or supplies)
• Other duties as assigned.

General responsibilities

• Represent the mission, value, and philosophy of CWS to program participants, employees, Community partners, and to the public.
• Represent and reflect the values of the agency through direct communication and collaboration with co-workers, partners, and participants.
• Model values of equity and inclusion in decision making and daily work.
• Complete documentation of all services, including intakes, releases of information, demographics tracking and statistics within the CWS database for all participants on a minimum of a weekly basis. (if applicable)
• Maintain appropriate participant confidentiality in accordance with advocate privilege and federal statutes. (if applicable)
• Work in conjunction with other staff to provide consistent services to participants.
• Meet regularly with the Youth Services Program Manager to plan and prioritize projects.
• Submit necessary monthly timesheets and mileage reimbursement forms.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience working with children & youth.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate understanding of domestic & sexual violence, and their effects youth survivors, parenting and society.
• Demonstrated understanding of anti-oppression issues, ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, and understanding of culturally competent service delivery methods.
• Enthusiasm for working collaboratively with a wide range of public and private systems intersecting with the DVSA field (law enforcement, DHS, courts, education, etc.).
• The person will periodically move supplies and other items (up to 50 lbs.) from one place to another, participates in youth program tasks and events, including occasional field work; may work in all types of weather.
