Job summary

State of Missouri, Division of Youth Services, seeks an Education Specialist to develop curriculum and lesson plans for youth in day treatment and residential programs. Requires mild/moderate Special Education certification and ability to obtain cert through Missouri DESE; teaches elementary to secondary subjects and related special education work.

Responsibilities include implementing IEPs, planning class work, collaborating with a teaching team, and maintaining records.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Special Education or equivalent with valid Special Education teaching certificate.
Alternative pathway: Bachelor's + ability to obtain appropriate Special Education teaching certificate.
Master's degree in Special Education plus required teaching experience may satisfy advanced requirements.

Responsibilities

Implement group and individual education plans and plan class work.
Collaborate with teaching team; develop and evaluate IEPs; confer with parents and/or students.
Adhere to State and Federal testing guidelines and mandates.
Prepare progress reports and maintain scholastic/attendance records.
Administer and score pre/post tests.
Provide Awareness Supervision to youth and ensure safety and conduct.
Maintain security and participate in physical restraints during emergencies.
Transport and escort youth in everyday and emergency situations.
