Job summary

The Berkeley Heights Public Library is seeking a dynamic Head of Youth Services to lead programming, outreach, and collection development for children through teens. The role oversees staff, volunteers, and partners with schools and community groups to engage young patrons.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in youth services, an ALA-accredited degree or NJ Librarian certificate, and supervisory experience. NJ residency required; salary $75,000–$80,000 with benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience working with children/youth in a library setting, with supervisory experience.
• ALA accredited degree and/or Professional Librarian’s Certificate issued by NJ DOE; NJ residency required.
• Experience with outreach and collaboration with schools and community groups.
• Familiarity with Koha ILS is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead programming for infants to teens and manage programming budget.
• Coordinate outreach and strengthen school/library collaborations.
• Develop and maintain children’s and teen collections; merchandise and displays.
• Supervise and train Youth Services staff and volunteers.
• Prepare monthly updates and reports for the Board.
