Job summary

Berkeley Heights Public Library in New Jersey seeks a Youth Services Department Head with passion for children and teens to lead programming, outreach, and collection development.

The role supervises staff and teen volunteers, plans the annual Summer Reading program, and partners with schools and the community. Required ALA-accredited degree (or NJ cert), NJ residency, and a salary up to $80,000 with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience working with children/youth in a library setting, with supervisory experience.
• ALA accredited degree and/or Professional Librarian’s Certificate; NJ residency or eligibility.
• Knowledge of Koha ILS is a plus.
• Willingness to participate in community outreach and ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities

• Plan and run programming for infants to teens within budget and strategic framework.
• Coordinate outreach with schools, daycares and events; strengthen library partnerships.
• Develop and maintain the children's and teens collections; create displays and list reading materials.
• Supervise and train Youth Services staff and teen volunteers; manage monthly stats and reports.
• Collaborate with leadership on Summer Reading program and content for BHPL communications.
