Job summary

Berkeley Heights Public Library seeks an experienced Youth Services Department Head to lead programs for infants through teens and to drive community outreach and collaboration with schools.

You will supervise and train staff, curate engaging collections, manage a programming budget, and develop dynamic displays. The role includes evening/weekend hours and a salary range of $75,000 to $80,000 with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience working with children/youth in a library setting, with supervisory experience.
• ALA accredited degree and/or Professional Librarian’s Certificate issued by NJ DOE; must reside in NJ or be able to.
• Involvement in professional development and understanding new trends applicable to libraries.
• Koha ILS knowledge is a plus.
• Criminal background check required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and train Youth Services staff.
• Recruit, supervise, and monitor Teen Volunteers.
• Design and implement programming for infants to teens and their caregivers.
• Work with other departments to plan Summer Reading program.
• Create and maintain engaging displays and up-to-date collections for children through teens.
• Contribute content to BHPL’s website, newsletters, and social media.
