Job description

Due to an internal promotion, the Itasca Community Library is seeking a vibrant leader to manage the five-member Youth Services team. This department provides services, programs, and collections for children from birth through high school with the cooperation of their caregivers. In addition to managerial duties, this position will also have ample opportunity to work directly with patrons both in the library and during outreach events. Strong candidates will be able to confidently take initiative while respecting boundaries. Candidates should also be flexible and friendly and comfortable making decisions intuitively.

Itasca Community Library serves a small, traditional, and deeply rooted community in DuPage County in a suburban setting adjacent to the Itasca Village Hall, Itasca Waterpark, and Nature Center.As a member of an experienced 5-member Department Head group,there’s an opportunity to have an immense impact on library services.

Minimum Qualifications are a MLIS and 3 years' relevant experience in public library youth services. Supervisory andprogramming experience is strongly preferred.

• Annual Vacation Accrual: 2 weeks during first year. 3 – 4 weeks with seniority.
• Annual Sick Accrual: 12 days per year.
• 4 personal days per calendar year, available for immediate use after Introductory Period.
• 12 weeks paid parental leave
