Job summary

Missouri Division of Youth Services is seeking a Youth Services Worker to provide treatment services and ensure safety for youth in residential and day treatment programs. Duties include supervising youth, enforcing rules, conducting group and individual activities, and maintaining records.

The role requires empathetic, nonjudgmental communication, ability to handle emergencies, and collaboration with staff. Evening/night shifts may be required; a valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

  • Sixty or more earned credit hours from an accredited college or university with a minimum of six earned credit hours in Counseling, Criminal Justice, Education, Psychology, Sociology, or Social Work.
  • OR 2-4 years of relevant experience.
  • Earned credit hours may substitute on a year-for-year basis for a maximum of three years of required experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Awareness Supervision to youth, with responsibility for their personal conduct, care, and therapy.
  • Monitor activity, behavior, and movement of youth in residential/day treatment settings or while escorting youth off grounds.
  • Maintain security, including intervention and participating in physical restraints during emergencies.
  • Supervise youth in activities and inspect health and safety hazards.
  • Assist youth with personal issues and refer to groups as appropriate; observe and inform staff daily.
  • Implement group and individual treatment plans.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and interact respectfully with youth, families, staff, and the public.
  • Prepare reports and maintain youth records.
  • Dispense medications to youth and respond to medical emergencies (CPR).
  • Transport and escort youth in various situations.
  • Work on evening/night/day shifts and attend mandatory meetings; log hours and submit timesheets.
  • Assist in the educational program and perform other tasks as assigned.
