Job summary

City of Burien’s Recreation Division seeks a dependable, enthusiastic leader to create safe, engaging experiences for elementary and middle school youth. You will lead day-to-day programming, support other recreation staff, and model positive behavior for youth in our programs.

This is a part-time, non-exempt, temporary position with evening hours (0-19 per week) and a schedule that may include Monday–Thursday and occasional Friday shifts from September 2026 through June 2027.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of experience leading or teaching youth programs.
• One year of college coursework in Recreation, Education and/or related field or equivalent.
• Ability to work with elementary and middle school youth and collaborate with partner schools.

Responsibilities

• Lead safe, fun, educational programs for elementary and middle school youth at designated sites with partner schools.
• Develop programs and activities.
• Serve as staff lead for assigned programs at designated sites.
• Provide transportation for youth using a city van to different site locations.
