Job summary

The City of Burien's Recreation Division seeks enthusiastic individuals to support safe, engaging experiences for elementary and middle school youth. You will assist in supervising participants, help develop programs, and set up materials for daily activities in flexible after-school shifts.

This temporary, nonexempt position runs Sept 2026–June 2027 with hours up to 19 per week, typically in the late afternoon. Applicants must meet background, license, and CPR/First Aid requirements.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in youth programs or related field.
• Background in recreation, education, or related area preferred.
• Background check required and driving/transportation optional if needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the supervision of youth participants at programming sites.
• Assist in program and activity development.
• Assist in setup and takedown of programming materials and equipment.
• May provide transportation for youth using a city van.
