Job summary

The Salvation Army in Biloxi, MS is seeking a part-time Recreation Assistant to support activities for children at the Ray and Joan Kroc Corps. The role involves supervising children in education, recreation, arts & crafts, and physical education settings, ensuring safety and well-being.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and at least six months of experience with children in similar environments, plus CPR/First Aid certifications.

Qualifications

• Six months experience working with children in educational, fitness, arts, and other activities in a similar environment.
• High school diploma or GED, AND
• Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Knowledge of the principles and practices of First Aid and C.P.R and ability to ensure the safety of children.
• Ability to monitor children’s activities to ensure their health and safety.
• Knowledge of the standard rules and techniques of athletic sports such as baseball, basketball, and football, etc.
• Ability to build effective and positive relationships with people of all ages.
• Ability to lead and motivate people participating in recreational activities.
• Ability to respond to emergency situations in a calm and appropriate manner.
