Job summary

Wisconsin Community Services, Inc. is seeking a Certified Peer Support Specialist - CORE to provide 1:1 peer support in homes and community settings, utilizing lived experience to engage and advocate for individuals and families.

You will help navigate mental health, substance use, and related systems while promoting recovery and resilience. The role emphasizes collaboration with CORE team, development of care and crisis plans, and documenting progress in a strengths-based approach.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or HSED required.
• Completion of Wisconsin peer support training.
• Personal lived experience with mental health, substance use, co-occurring, or related life challenges.
• Experience working with children, youth, young adults, adult individuals, and families.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, cultural competence, and knowledge of recovery principles.
• Must meet all agency and contractor requirements for background, caregiver background, driving record, and reference checks.
• Completion of required agency and program trainings is expected.
• Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License, automobile insurance, and access to an automobile required.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 peer support to individuals and families in homes and other community-based settings.
• Support participants and caregivers in navigating systems of care so needs are addressed and voice is heard.
• Help individuals and families identify strengths, barriers, needs, goals, and priorities.
• Partner with participants to develop care, crisis, and recovery plans.
• Provide coaching, education, and practical support to strengthen wellness and crisis management skills.
• Link participants to services and community resources to build support networks.
• Promote engagement by accompanying participants to appointments and activities.
• Complete required documentation and progress notes in a timely, strengths-based manner.
