Job summary

YM & YWHA of Washington Heights & Inwood in New York, NY seeks a Youth Programs Coordinator for Be Me Afterschool and related enrichment activities. The role focuses on coordinating day-to-day operations, enrollment, scheduling, staffing, transportation, and family communications to ensure smooth program delivery.

The position is part-time with hours Monday–Thursday afternoons and Sundays, offering engagement with diverse youth, families, schools, and community partners in a nonprofit setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, College Degree preferred.
• Two years of experience working with children.
• Two years of experience running activities with Kinder to 5th-grade students.
• Two years of experience communicating and working with families with children of different abilities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the daily administrative operations of Be Me Afterschool and Youth programs.
• Maintain attendance, rosters, emergency information, and program records.
• Prepare enrollment, attendance, staffing, and program participation reports.
• Coordinate purchasing of program supplies, curriculum materials, and equipment.
• Off-Site Program Coordination: coordinate all operational aspects of off-site enrichment programs.
• Serve as the primary administrative contact for satellite locations, community partners and school partners.
• Coordinate schedules, transportation, staffing, and supplies.
• Conduct regular observations to ensure quality and consistency across locations.
• Support instructors and site staff by resolving logistical and operational issues.
• Coordinate daily staffing assignments and assist with substitute coverage; update staffing board.
• Maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios.
• Assist with transportation logistics, bus assignments, and dismissal procedures.
• Support compliance with licensing requirements and internal policies.
• Maintain inventory of program supplies and equipment.
• Serve as primary point of contact for family inquiries and communications.
• Support onboarding and training of new staff on administrative systems and procedures.
• Foster positive relationships with families, schools, partners, and vendors.
• Keep newsletters and parent communications up to date.
• Maintain daily operations for Sunday enrichment activities and events.
