Job summary

The Newark Museum of Art in Newark, NJ is seeking a Manager of Youth Programs to lead the development and implementation of Youth Initiatives, the Explorers Program, and Camp NMOA. You will guide a team to help Newark-area teens build essential skills and confidence through curriculum tied to the Museum’s unique collections.

This full-time onsite role requires collaboration with educators and curators, budget oversight, and a commitment to inclusive learning.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of successful experience in the development and implementation of youth programming in a museum or similar arts education institution.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 2 years of experience in managing staff.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Adobe Pro, Web Conferencing software and knowledge of social media practices.
• Strong organizational and effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and evaluate virtual and in-person youth programs such as workshops, teen-led tours, teen events, and more for pre-teens to teens.
• Prepare budgets and monitor expenses, manage payroll-related tasks, and supervise registrations and materials.
• Collaborate with educators and curators to create programs linked to temporary exhibitions and the permanent collection.
• Design schedules for internship rotations and coordinate explorer internships with other departments.
• Provide professional development and training for Camp NMOA staff, including safety trainings.
