Job summary

Brooklyn Museum invites NYC high school students to join the Museum Apprentice Program as a guest educator. Participants will work with museum educators and curators to create lesson plans and gain experience teaching audiences of all ages within a dynamic museum setting.

You will meet artists and curators, discuss education topics, and assist with family programs such as Art Explorers, while developing tours and summer camp activities.

Responsibilities

• Meet artists and curators to learn about art and the Brooklyn Museum's collections.
• Discuss critical topics in museum education, including working with public schools and social justice.
• Connect with education staff and learn to use artworks to teach diverse audiences.
• Assist with family programs such as Art Explorers.
• Develop tours and teach summer camp groups.
• Learn education programming in a museum setting and connect art to the world.
• Build public speaking, lesson planning, research, and teaching skills.
• Strengthen communication, collaboration, time management, and organization.
