Job summary

CPC Education and Career Services (ECS) and COMPASS provide dynamic after-school programs for school-age children in New York City. CPC aims to bridge youth with educational, economic, and leadership opportunities across community sites and schools.

The role supports group leaders in STEM and literacy activities, emphasizes safe and inclusive environments, and offers development opportunities within a large, diverse organization.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age or older.
• Minimum of one year of experience working with children ages 5 to 12 in structured settings.
• Current CPR/first aid/AED certification or willingness to complete within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Assist Group Leaders in planning and delivering engaging activities aligned with DYCD goals.
• Support evaluation of program activities and events.
• Tutor and provide academic assistance as needed.
• Ensure activities are age-appropriate, safe, and developmentally supportive.
• Maintain active supervision of children to promote safety and positive behavior.
• Communicate regularly with principals, staff, families, and CPC colleagues.
• Model respectful, professional relationships with children, parents, staff, and school management.
• Keep the classroom organized and maintain equipment/materials.
• Adhere to program policies and regulations set by DOHMH, DYCD, and CPC.
• Participate in professional development activities to enhance skills.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
