The Chinese-American Planning Council (CPC) seeks a Part-Time Site Supervisor for the after-school program at PS 97 in Brooklyn. You'll supervise staff, guide activities, and ensure a safe, engaging environment for children ages 5-12.

ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION

PROGRAM SUMMARY

Department of Youth & Community Development/Comprehensive After School System (DYCD/COMPASS) contracts with the Chinese-American Planning Council to provide youth after school services to school‑age children ages 5-12 years old. COMPASS seeks to promote positive youth development, foster social and emotional skills, and encourage youth leadership through engaging activities that incorporate hands‑on learning in safe, welcoming environments. The program includes academic support, physical exercise, and enrichment age‑appropriate activities such as literacy or STEM to enhance the academic, social, and physical development of children during the after‑school hours, on certain evenings, weekends, and school holidays.

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Program Director, Site Supervisors support program operations by supervising staff, overseeing daily activities, and ensuring smooth day-to-day functions. Site Supervisors also fulfill Group Leader responsibilities as needed, including working directly with children in the classroom. Candidates should demonstrate a growth mindset, showing openness to learning, feedback, and continuous professional development.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervisor Responsibilities:

• Support the Program Director by supervising Activity Specialists, Group Leaders, Youth Counselors, and Volunteers in the implementation of the afterschool program.
• Ensure the health, safety, and well‑being of all program participants by providing active supervision of activities.
• Promote an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment that embraces the diversity of participants and staff.
• Maintain accurate and timely program documentation, including participant files, data entry (DYCD Connect), attendance records, sign‑in/out forms, behavior and incident reports, as appropriate.
• Collaborate effectively with school administration, teachers, program staff, and CPC leadership to ensure alignment and support for program goals.
• Foster a strength‑based, youth‑focused atmosphere that is consistent and sensitive to the needs of participants with learning, emotional, or behavioral differences.
• Assist in creating marketing materials, such as flyers, to promote program awareness and support enrollment efforts.
• Serve as a positive role model to children, staff, and families.
• Work with the Program Director to ensure all necessary equipment and supplies are secured and maintained.
• Understand, communicate, and uphold CPC’s core values and the goals of the School‑Age Child Care (SACC) program to all participants and caregivers.
• Actively participate in all required trainings, meetings, and special events.
• Adhere to all program policies, procedures, and regulations established by DOHMH, DYCD, and CPC.

Group Leader Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement lesson plans that are developmentally appropriate, aligned with DYCD goals, and designed to promote academic, recreational, and social‑emotional learning.
• Facilitate daily activities in core subjects such as Math and Literacy, as well as Science, Social Studies, and cultural enrichment.
• Ensure all activities are age‑appropriate, safe, and supportive of children’s development.
• Maintain active supervision of children at all times to ensure a safe and supportive environment; respond appropriately to behavioral concerns and medical needs.
• Document student attendance, behavior incidents, and classroom observations in accordance with CPC policies and program requirements.
• Foster a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative classroom culture that reflects CPC’s values and supports youth development.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with parents and guardians through regular, proactive communication about their child’s progress and development.
• Model respectful and professional relationship‑building in all interactions with children, parents, staff, and school management.
• Ensure classrooms are organized, well‑maintained, and stocked with necessary instructional and recreational materials.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director or Site Supervisor to support overall program operations.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree required in Education or a related field required.
• Minimum 2 years of teaching experience in an early education or school‑age setting.
• Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.
• Minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS OVERVIEW

• $25.00 - $25.00 per hour
