Job summary

Family Connections is seeking a Youth Development Specialist to supervise recreational programming and support social skill development for students at Bloomfield High School in Bloomfield, NJ. The role includes facilitating psycho-educational groups and coordinating field trips, with emphasis on safety and confidentiality.

You will input data into the MIS, provide case management as needed, and collaborate with school personnel to support adolescents in an urban setting.

Qualifications

Knowledge of adolescent development.
Ability to create a warm, non-threatening therapeutic atmosphere.
Ability to counsel adolescents.
Ability to work as a team member.
Advocacy for students with school personnel.
Open, warm, empathic, attentive listener.

Responsibilities

Supervise and coordinate recreational programming and field trips.
Build and maintain rapport with students to facilitate social skill development.
Facilitate prevention and psycho-educational groups.
Ensure documentation and data input into MIS is completed timely.
Provide case management to students as necessary.
Monitor students' academic and behavioral progress.
Assist in development and marketing of programs in school and community.
Discuss suspected abuse/neglect with Manager/Coordinator and report as required.
Perform other duties as deemed necessary by Manager/Coordinator.
