Job summary

Family Connections, Inc. in Bloomfield, NJ is seeking a Youth Development Specialist to supervise recreational programs, build rapport with students, and facilitate psycho-educational groups at The Den and Bloomfield High School.

This full‑time role entails ensuring documentation, collaboration with school personnel, and advocating for students as needed. The position requires a high school diploma with 3 years of youth service experience; a bachelor’s in human services is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School diploma and 3 years experience as a youth service worker.
• Bachelor’s Degree in human services field preferred.
• Experience with urban adolescent settings is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate recreational programming and field trips.
• Build rapport and facilitate social skill development in students.
• Lead prevention and psycho-educational groups.
• Ensure timely data entry into MIS systems.
• Provide case management to students as needed.
• Monitor academic and behavioral progress of students.
• Assist in development and marketing of programs in schools and community.
• Discuss suspected abuse cases with Manager/Coordinator and report to DCP&P.
• Perform other duties as required by the Manager/Coordinator.
