Job summary

Family Connections seeks a Youth Development Specialist to foster social development through structured recreation and psycho-educational groups at The Map Program, Irvington High School. The role reports to the SBYSP Manager and requires a high school diploma with 3 years of youth service experience (Bachelor’s preferred).

You will engage diverse youth, coordinate activities, document progress, and collaborate with school staff to support students.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; 3 years of youth service experience preferred.
• Experience with urban youth and knowledge of adolescent development.
• Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams and community resources.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate recreational programming and field trips.
• Build rapport with students to foster social skills and advocate as needed.
• Facilitate prevention and psycho-educational groups.
• Ensure timely documentation and data entry in MIS.
• Provide case management to students.
• Monitor students’ academic and behavioral progress.
• Assist in development and marketing of programs in school and community.
• Discuss suspected abuse with Manager/Coordinator and report to DCP&P.
• Perform other duties as deemed necessary.
